Bill Tucker Appointed Interim Director of Education
Appointment will provide stability for the system and students
 
The Board of Trustees are pleased to announce that former Thames Valley District School Board Director of Education, Bill Tucker has been appointed Interim Director of Education, effective immediately. He will serve in this role while Director of Education Mark Fisher is on leave.
 
“Bill Tucker is a respected, knowledgeable and experienced leader in public education,” said Board Chair Beth Mai. “His deep understanding of TVDSB community will provide stability for the system and ensure that student achievement and well-being continue to be a key focus. We are thankful that he has agreed to lend his support and leadership to the TVDSB.”
 
Bill Tucker has been involved with public education for over 40 years both in the public school system and as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Western University. He served as Director of Education for the Thames Valley District School Board from 2008 until his retirement in 2013. Prior to becoming Director, Bill assumed a number of system responsibilities as Superintendent in the areas of Special Education, School Operations and Human Resources.
 
“I look forward to once again working with the Board of Trustees and re-introducing myself to staff, students, families and community partners,” said Bill Tucker, Interim Director of Education. “My priority will be on supporting students, creating positive and inclusive learning and working environments, and advancing the Board’s new strategic plan to strengthen the unique potential of each student.”
 
Bill is also the current Chair of the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation and has also been a member of several Boards including Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex, Vanier Children’s Services, Women’s Community House and is currently an Executive Member on the Board at Community Living London. He chaired the 2012 London and Middlesex United Way Campaign. Bill also sat on the provincial government’s Special Needs Strategy Reference Group for three years as one of seven advisors from across Ontario. Bill and his wife Mary Ann have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
